How today feels: restless

The moon is a waxing gibbous, 83% lit. The geomagnetic field is active (peak Kp 4), one step below storm level. Light sleepers may notice a shorter, shallower night. Days are getting noticeably shorter.

Key facts · 22 October 2026
  • On 22 October 2026 the moon is a waxing gibbous, 83% illuminated.
  • There is no geomagnetic storm on 22 October 2026; the planetary Kp index peaks at 4, and a storm begins at Kp 5.
  • The geomagnetic field is forecast at Kp 4 for the following day.
  • The base frequency of the Schumann resonance is 7.83 Hz.
  • The Mind University wellbeing index for 22 October 2026 is “restless”.

What is the wellbeing index?

The wellbeing index is a daily reading of five natural conditions that people often say they feel: moonlight, the geomagnetic field, the Schumann resonance, the length of daylight and the change in air pressure in your city. It describes the day, not your health. Each condition has its own page with full data.

Air pressure changes when weather systems move: a fall of 8 hPa or more within a day usually means a front or a deep low arriving, a fast rise the weather clearing behind it. Many people who call themselves weather-sensitive say they notice such days, so the index counts how fast the pressure changes, not how high it is.

What you may notice

Lighter sleep

Some people report falling asleep later and waking earlier around the full moon.

A shorter fuse

After several active-field days in a row, weather-sensitive people describe feeling more irritable or tired.

Changing light

The length of daylight shifts by a few minutes every day; the body’s clock follows it.

How the wellbeing index is calculated

Each signal is scored from 0 to 3 and the five scores are added. The total places the day on a scale of five levels, from calm to stormy.

Scores: moonlight 0–3 by illumination, field 0–3 by peak Kp (quiet 0, unsettled 1, active 2, storm 3), Schumann 0–3 by amplitude against its usual level (1 when there is no reading), daylight 0–3 by how fast it is changing, air pressure 0–3 by the largest change over any 24 hours of the day (under 3 hPa 0, from 3 hPa 1, from 5 hPa 2, 8 hPa or more 3; 1 when there is no data). Days before 12 October 2026 were scored on the first four signals, out of 12.

Questions people ask

Why do I feel tired or restless today?

On days with a bright moon or an active geomagnetic field some people report lighter sleep and tiredness. The index shows which of the five signals is elevated today. Feeling unwell for longer is a reason to see a doctor.

Is there a geomagnetic storm today?

The strip at the top shows today’s peak Kp. A storm begins at Kp 5 (level G1). The geomagnetic storm page has the hour-by-hour values and the 3-day and 27-day forecasts.

What is the moon phase today?

Today’s phase and illumination are in the answer strip. The moon page has the calendar, the next phases and the full and new moon dates for the year.

Does the full moon affect sleep?

Several studies found that people fall asleep a little later and sleep a little less in the days around the full moon; others found no effect. The difference, where it appears, is small.

What is the Schumann resonance today?

The Schumann resonance is a set of electromagnetic resonances of the space between the Earth’s surface and the ionosphere. Its base frequency is about 7.83 Hz. Today’s amplitude against the usual level is in the strip at the top; the Schumann resonance page has the three-day chart.

What is weather sensitivity?

Weather sensitivity (meteoropathy) is the name people use for feeling changes in weather, pressure or the geomagnetic field. It is a reported experience, not a diagnosis.

Where does the data come from?

Moon and sun positions are calculated on the server with published astronomical algorithms. The Kp index comes from the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Center, the Schumann resonance from the Space Observing System in Tomsk.
