- In 33 healthy volunteers 20 minutes of music at 432 Hz gave a heart rate 4.79 beats a minute lower than the same music at 440 Hz.
- In a study of 54 emergency healthcare workers only the group with 432 Hz music had a fall in breathing rate, by 2.7 breaths a minute, and in systolic blood pressure, by 3.8 mmHg.
- In 42 dental patients salivary cortisol was 0.49 μg/dL with 432 Hz music, 1.35 μg/dL with 440 Hz music and 1.59 μg/dL without music.
- The chord of the generator swells and fades once in 12 seconds; breathing with it gives five breaths a minute.
- With the theta beat of 6 Hz the left ear hears 108 Hz and the right ear 114 Hz; with the alpha beat of 10 Hz the right ear hears 118 Hz.
- 432 Hz is a tuning, 31.77 cents below the standard 440 Hz, and not a solfeggio tone; the chakra assignments belong to the solfeggio tones.
What a 432 Hz meditation is
A 432 Hz meditation is a meditation with sound in which the note A is tuned to 432 Hz instead of the standard 440 Hz. All other notes move with it. The sound is 31.77 cents lower, a little less than a third of a semitone, and to many listeners softer.
The sound has one job: it gives attention a place to rest. You sit and listen, and when you notice that the mind has wandered, you come back to the sound.
Supporters call 432 Hz the natural tuning, and the tradition links it with calm. The studies agree about the calm: music in 432 Hz slows the heart and the breath a little more than the same music at 440 Hz.
Heard alone, the two tunings cannot be told apart by most listeners. Heard one after the other, they can. Switch the generator between 432 and 440 while the sound plays, and the pitch changes at once.
432 Hz meditation benefits: what studies found about calm
The studies tested listening, not a meditation technique. People sat or lay quietly with music or sound tuned to 432 Hz, and their pulse, breathing, saliva or brain activity were measured. A sitting with sound is the same situation.
In most of these studies the comparison was the same music at 440 Hz or 443 Hz, so the results say something about the tuning itself.
| Measure | Who listened and how long | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Heart rate | 33 healthy volunteers, 20 minutes of film music | 4.79 beats a minute lower with 432 Hz than with 440 Hz (p = 0.05) |
| Heart rate | 43 cancer patients, 15 minutes of a string instrument placed against the body | Fell by 3 beats a minute with 432 Hz and by 1 beat with 443 Hz (p = 0.04) |
| Breathing rate | 33 healthy volunteers, 20 minutes | 1 breath a minute lower with 432 Hz (p = 0.06) |
| Breathing rate | 54 emergency healthcare workers, music in the work break | Fell by 2.7 breaths a minute, only with 432 Hz |
| Systolic blood pressure | The same 54 workers | Fell by 3.8 mmHg, only with 432 Hz |
| Cortisol in saliva | 42 dental patients, 15 minutes before a tooth extraction | 0.49 μg/dL with 432 Hz, 1.35 μg/dL with 440 Hz, 1.59 μg/dL without music |
| Anxiety score | The same 42 patients | 8.7 with 432 Hz, 8.4 with 440 Hz, 17.2 without music |
| Anxiety | 90 patients before wisdom tooth surgery, 10 minutes | Fell significantly with 432 Hz music, not in the control group |
| Alpha activity of the brain | 15 men during a daytime nap | Rose significantly at sleep onset with 432 Hz music, a sign of calm |
Read the table this way. Anxiety falls with quiet music in either tuning. The advantage of 432 Hz shows in the body: a slower heart, slower breathing, less cortisol.
The limits: the studies are small, from 12 to 100 people, several are pilot studies by the same Italian group, and none lasted longer than a few weeks. Larger studies are needed.
432 Hz meditation music: the meditation setting of the generator
The generator makes the sound in your browser. Nothing is a recording. The page opens with the meditation setting. The tuning, the sound, the beat, the background and the volume can be changed while the sound plays.
| Setting | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Tuning | A = 432 Hz | The tuning tested in the studies |
| Sound | A chord of the notes A, E and A: 108, 161.82 and 216 Hz | Low and even, with a slow rise and fall to breathe with |
| Beat | Theta, 6 Hz | A steady pulse for inward attention; it needs headphones |
| Background | Off | Switch on the brown noise if the room is noisy |
| Timer | 15 minutes | Long enough to settle; the sound fades out gradually |
| Volume | Quiet | The chord should sit in the background, not fill the head |
A 15-minute 432 Hz meditation, minute by minute
Sit on a chair or on a cushion with your back straight. Lying down with a slow chord and a theta beat usually ends in sleep.
| Minute | What you do |
|---|---|
| 0–1 | Put on headphones, press Play, close your eyes. Let the hands rest on the thighs |
| 1–3 | Breathe with the chord: in while it swells, out while it fades |
| 3–6 | Keep the breath and release the body part by part: forehead, jaw, shoulders, hands, belly |
| 6–12 | Let the breath go its own way. Rest your attention on the chord. When you notice a thought, return to the sound |
| 12–14 | Widen your attention: the weight of the body on the seat, the air on the skin, the room |
| 14–15 | The sound fades out. Stay with the silence that follows |
Sit for one more minute before you open your eyes and stand up.
Returning to the sound is the exercise. A session in which you returned twenty times is a good session.
432 Hz binaural beats: a theta beat or an alpha beat
The generator can add a binaural beat to the chord. The left ear hears each note as it is, and the right ear hears it a few hertz higher. The difference between the ears is the beat. It needs headphones.
| Beat | Left ear, lowest note | Right ear, lowest note | For whom |
|---|---|---|---|
| Theta, 6 Hz | 108 Hz | 114 Hz | A deeper, inward session in the evening. It makes some people drowsy |
| Alpha, 10 Hz | 108 Hz | 118 Hz | First sessions, mornings, a break at work: calm and awake |
| No beat | 108 Hz | 108 Hz | Listening through a speaker, chanting, anyone whom the beat disturbs |
Two trials compared 432 Hz music with binaural beats in dental patients: 90 patients before wisdom tooth surgery and 99 patients before root canal treatment. Both methods reduced anxiety significantly, and in the second trial they were equally effective.
A meta-analysis of 22 studies found a medium overall effect of binaural beats on memory, attention, anxiety and pain perception.
In those trials the two methods were tested separately. The generator lets you use them together or take the chord alone.
432 Hz frequency meditation: breathing with the chord
The chord swells and fades once in 12 seconds. Breathe in while it swells and out while it fades, and you breathe five times a minute. You do not need to count: the sound keeps the time.
- Breathe through the nose and let the belly rise first.
- Start the in-breath when the chord begins to grow.
- Let the air leave as the chord fades. Do not push it out.
- If five breaths a minute feel too slow, take two breaths to one cycle and return to one breath when it becomes easy.
- If you feel dizzy or short of breath, go back to your ordinary breathing.
In the studies the breathing rate fell by itself with 432 Hz music, by 1 to 2.7 breaths a minute. Here you slow it on purpose, and the chord makes that easy.
432 Hz meditation for deep relaxation in 5 minutes
A short session in a break at work has a study behind it. In Italy 54 emergency healthcare workers were divided into three groups during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the work break one group listened to music at 432 Hz, one to music at 440 Hz, and one had a break without music.
Anxiety fell in all three groups: a break helps by itself. Only in the 432 Hz group did the breathing rate fall, by 2.7 breaths a minute, and the systolic blood pressure, by 3.8 mmHg.
- Set the timer to 5 minutes and the beat to alpha, or switch the beat off. At work you want to stay awake.
- Sit back, put both feet on the floor and close your eyes.
- Breathe with the chord. Five minutes are 25 breaths.
- On each out-breath drop the shoulders a little lower.
- When the sound fades out, open your eyes and look at something far away before you return to the screen.
Without headphones switch the beat off and play the chord quietly through a speaker.
432 Hz frequency benefits and the chakras
Searches for 432 Hz and chakras mix two traditions. The chakra assignments belong to the solfeggio tones: in that tradition each tone has its own chakra. 432 Hz is not a solfeggio tone. It is a tuning, a way to set all the notes of a piece, so that system gives it no chakra.
What supporters say about 432 Hz is different: they call it the natural tuning and link it with calm. If you work with chakras, use the 432 Hz chord as a calm background for the practice and take the tones for each chakra from the page about solfeggio frequencies.
Research has nothing to say about chakras. This is a matter of practice and tradition. The measured benefits of 432 Hz are those of the body: heart rate, breathing, cortisol.
Om chanting in 432 Hz and singing with the chord
To chant or sing in 432 Hz you need a reference pitch. The chord of the generator gives it: the notes A, E and A at 108, 161.82 and 216 Hz. It works as a drone, a steady sound under the voice.
- Switch the beat off and play the chord through a speaker, so that you hear your own voice.
- Find the note A with your voice: 108 Hz or 216 Hz for a low voice, 432 Hz for a high one.
- Breathe in while the chord swells and chant one long sound while it fades.
- If you play an instrument, set the reference of the tuner or the tuner app from 440 to 432 and tune as usual.
- A 432 Hz tuning fork gives the same note A and serves as a reference without any device.
One trial of OM chanting is described on these pages, and its recording was composed at 528 Hz, not in 432 Hz. In 60 patients with stage 1 hypertension a month of daily listening lowered heart rate and blood pressure and improved sleep. The details are on the page about 528 Hz.
432 Hz relaxation music: tone, chord or melody
The generator has three sounds. Your own music in 432 Hz is the fourth choice.
| Sound | What you hear | Use in meditation |
|---|---|---|
| The chord | The notes A, E and A in a low register, swelling and fading | The default: a rhythm for the breath and a background for attention |
| The note A | A pure tone of 432 Hz | One plain point to rest attention on, for short sessions |
| The melody | The opening four bars of the Prelude in C major by Johann Sebastian Bach, repeated | Listening as the practice: follow each note. It plays without a beat |
| Your own music in 432 Hz | Calm pieces recorded in this tuning or lowered to it | The closest match to what the studies used |
In the studies people listened to music, not to a pure tone. The tone and the chord of the generator are a way to hear the tuning. For the measured effects quiet music is closer.
Playlists labelled 432 Hz exist on streaming services, and the label cannot be checked by ear. Any recording can be retuned in an audio editor by lowering the pitch by 31.77 cents, which is 1.82 %.
How often and how long to meditate with 432 Hz
The sessions in the studies were short: 10 minutes before wisdom tooth surgery, 15 minutes before a tooth extraction, 20 minutes in the healthy volunteers. The lower heart rate and the lower cortisol were measured after a single session.
Daily listening was tested too. Patients who listened for 30 minutes a day slept better after the period with 432 Hz.
| Your aim | Length | Setting |
|---|---|---|
| A break during the day | 5 minutes | Chord, alpha beat or no beat |
| A daily practice | 15 minutes | Chord, theta beat |
| A long evening session | 30 minutes | Chord, theta beat, brown noise |
| Falling asleep | 30 minutes in bed | The setting from the page about 432 Hz for sleep |
Choose one hour of the day and keep it. Ten minutes every day do more than an hour once a week.
432 Hz healing meditation: what is shown and what is not
Supporters call 432 Hz a healing frequency. What the studies show is more modest and more concrete: a calmer body and less anxiety before a medical procedure.
It has not been shown that 432 Hz heals any disease. The claim that it is the frequency of the Earth does not hold either: the base frequency of the Earth's electromagnetic resonance is about 7.83 Hz, and 432 appears only when that value is rounded to 8 and multiplied by 54.
Part of the effect belongs to music as such. A review of 104 randomised trials with 9,617 participants found that music reduces stress, with a medium effect on how people feel and a smaller one on the body, clearest in the heart rate. The 432 Hz tuning adds a little to that.
Is 432 Hz meditation safe
No study has described a harm of 432 Hz or of 440 Hz. Hearing is harmed by loudness and duration, not by a particular frequency. The World Health Organization considers sound of up to 80 dB safe for 40 hours a week.
With a binaural beat use headphones, do not listen while driving, and if you have epilepsy talk to your doctor first.
Meditation with sound does not replace treatment. If anxiety or low mood lasts for weeks, see a doctor.
Questions people ask
What is 432 Hz meditation music?
Music or sound in which the note A is tuned to 432 Hz instead of 440 Hz. It is 31.77 cents lower than standard tuning and is used as a calm background or as the object of attention in meditation.
What are the benefits of 432 Hz meditation?
In studies of listening, music at 432 Hz gave a heart rate 4.79 beats a minute lower than the same music at 440 Hz, a lower breathing rate and lower cortisol. The studies are small, and larger ones are needed.
Is 432 Hz good for deep relaxation?
Yes, the studies point that way. In emergency healthcare workers a work break with 432 Hz music lowered the breathing rate by 2.7 breaths a minute and the systolic blood pressure by 3.8 mmHg.
Which chakra is 432 Hz?
None in the solfeggio system. The chakra assignments belong to the solfeggio tones, and 432 Hz is a tuning, not one of those tones. They are described on the page about solfeggio frequencies.
Can I use 432 Hz with binaural beats?
Yes. The generator adds a theta beat of 6 Hz or an alpha beat of 10 Hz to the chord. For the lowest note the left ear hears 108 Hz and the right ear 114 or 118 Hz. You need headphones.
Can I chant Om in 432 Hz?
Yes. Play the chord through a speaker without the beat and chant on its note A, at 108, 216 or 432 Hz. The chord holds the pitch for you.
How long should a 432 Hz meditation last?
15 minutes is a good daily length. In the studies 10 to 20 minutes of listening were enough for measurable calm, and 5 minutes suit a break at work.
Do I need headphones for 432 Hz meditation?
Only for the binaural beat. The chord, the tone and the melody can be played through a speaker.
Is 432 Hz a healing frequency?
Supporters call it that. Studies show that music in 432 Hz calms the body; they do not show that it heals any disease.

The generator makes the sound in the browser (Web Audio). On this page it starts in the 432 Hz tuning with the chord of the notes A, E and A (108, 161.82 and 216 Hz), a 6 Hz theta beat (for the lowest note 108 Hz in the left ear and 114 Hz in the right ear) and a 15-minute timer with a gradual fade-out. The chord swells and fades once in 12 seconds. The frequencies of the notes are calculated in equal temperament from A4 = 432 Hz or 440 Hz. Nothing is a recording, and all values can be changed.
