The love line in the Destiny Matrix: entry, balance and the portrait of a partner

What the love line is and where to find it

In the Destiny Matrix, love and money share one line, usually called the wellbeing line. It runs through the lower right quarter of the chart and joins two inner points: the entry to the money line (c1) on the horizontal earth line and the entry to the love line (d1) on the vertical sky line. The balance point stands exactly in the middle. Between the balance point and the money entry sits the point marked with a dollar sign; between the balance point and the love entry sits the point marked with a heart. The half of the line that runs from the balance point to d1 is the love line, also called the relationship channel.

The love line answers three questions. What stands in the way of a harmonious relationship, and which mistakes need correcting. How love affects money and the other way round. Which partner suits you and what tasks wait for you as a couple. The method treats relationships as one of three main results of a life: what happens with your money, your health and your relationships shows whether you are on your own path.

Do not confuse the love line with the lines of men and women. Those describe how you get on with men and women in society: colleagues, friends, bosses. Married life follows a different principle, and the energies of the love line are the ones responsible for it.

The entry to the love line: where love begins

The entry to the love line (d1) is point D plus the centre of the chart. It stands on the sky line between the centre and the bottom corner, right next to point D, which means it touches the karmic tail: the tail is made of d1, d2 and D. That is why the entry energy starts out in its minus at birth. It shows the worst of what a person did in relationships in a past life, and out of old habit they tend to repeat it now.

In its plus the entry energy helps you find a fitting partner, and relationships work out. In its minus it explains why someone cannot meet their other half for a long time, or why the relationships they do have keep turning out wrong. The books on the method describe this as a cloak of invisibility: until the entry energy changes, the right partner simply does not notice you.

The entry is the base point of any partnership, not only marriage. Business partnerships are read from it too: when it is in its plus, all of your alliances go well. It shows which qualities to work on and which mistakes to correct so that relationships become happy. While karmic debts are not worked through, this energy shows up in relationships with a minus sign.

The balance point: where love meets money

The balance point is the entry to the money line (c1) plus the entry to the love line (d1). It sits in the centre of the wellbeing line, where the money line and the love line cross, so it speaks about both areas at once. The way your relationships go affects your flow of money, and the reverse is true as well.

This point shows whether a marriage is equal or unequal in money terms, and whether partners grow richer together or poorer together. It also holds the main problems in relationships and the blocks in finances, because love and money share this point. When one area thrives at the expense of the other, for example when work swallows your personal life or a partner gets in the way of earning, the first thing to check is whether the balance point energy has slipped into its minus.

One of the authors calls it the guardian angel of wellbeing. In that reading it points to the setting and the place where you are most likely to meet the partner of your dreams, provided the entry to the love line has already been worked through. Keeping the balance point in its plus protects your relationships and your finances at the same time.

The love point under the heart: a portrait of your partner

The third point is the love entry plus the balance point. On the chart it is marked with a heart. It describes the partner with whom life feels easiest and most comfortable: the qualities they have and the lessons you go through together. It is also read as what you were given karmically in relationships in this life, and as your personal task within a couple. Taken as a whole, the love line also suggests how to behave in order to meet such a person.

The portrait works both ways. When the energies of the line are in their plus, you attract a partner with the bright side of this arcana. When they are in their minus, you attract its shadow side. That partner is not to blame for being drawn to another person's minus.

The love point is not the only possible match. With a different kind of person it simply takes more effort to reach a comfortable level. And if your current partner does not fit the description, that is no reason to split up: they may be living through the minus of their own energies right now.

The Anahata points, the points of the heart chakra, add more detail about love. There are two of them: one on the earth line (centre + a1) and one on the sky line (centre + b1). On the chart they are drawn as small green circles. They reveal the heart's desires, what a person truly wants from closeness.

How to find your love line by hand

Any number above 22 is reduced by adding its digits together. You never subtract 22: 34 becomes 3 + 4 = 7, and 31 becomes 3 + 1 = 4.

The calculator on this page does all of this for you, but working it out by hand shows what each point is made of: the entry rests on the karmic point D and the centre, the balance point also depends on the money entry, and the love point is built from the two before it.

1. Write down the three base points: A is the day of birth, B is the month, C is the sum of the digits of the year.
2. Find point D: A + B + C.
3. Find the centre of the chart: A + B + C + D.
4. Entry to the love line (d1): D + centre.
5. Entry to the money line (c1): C + centre.
6. Balance point: c1 + d1.
7. Love point under the heart: d1 + balance point.
8. To complete the picture, find the money point under the dollar sign (c1 + balance point) and the Anahata points: centre + a1 on the earth line and centre + b1 on the sky line.

Worked example: the love line for 23.06.1992

Base points: A = 5 (the 23rd reduces to 2 + 3), B = 6 (June), C = 1 + 9 + 9 + 2 = 21. Point D = 5 + 6 + 21 = 32, which gives 3 + 2 = 5. Centre = 5 + 6 + 21 + 5 = 37, which gives 10.

Entry to the love line: D + centre = 5 + 10 = 15, The Devil. Entry to the money line: C + centre = 21 + 10 = 31, which gives 4, The Emperor. Balance point: 4 + 15 = 19, The Sun. Love point under the heart: 15 + 19 = 34, which gives 7, The Chariot. For completeness, the money point under the dollar sign is 4 + 19 = 23, which gives 5.

The entry 15 is the first energy of the karmic tail 15-20-5, the Rebel's tail. So relationships here begin with a task carried over from the past. In its minus, fifteen at the entry makes a person harsh, sometimes dishonest, focused on personal gain, prone to temptation and to pointing out other people's flaws. In its plus they are honest, open, free of addictions, able to voice displeasure tactfully and to help others reach a new level. This entry is the first thing to work on.

The balance point 19 asks for a more relaxed life: enjoying it, valuing what you have and keeping a balance between work and rest. The minus here is aggression and reproach towards a partner, and retreating into workaholism or soul-searching. If work starts pushing out personal life, this chart shows it at once.

Under the heart stands 7: a partner who is a leader with an active approach to life, busy with self-realisation and career, fond of travel and movement. In the plus they inspire and never let you sit still; in the minus they quarrel, slack off and speak harshly. The couple's lesson is to reach your own goals on your own, not at your partner's expense, and not to charge ahead headlong. The Anahata points here are 7 on the earth line and 8 on the sky line, so the seven repeats the energy under the heart.

For compatibility, the sign is checked like this: is the partner's day-of-birth energy among 15, 19 or 7? The couple's shared task would be this seven plus the partner's own love point.

How to read the points together, and in what order

The three energies of the line act together, so what matters is how they combine rather than each one on its own. A practical order looks like this. Start with the centre of the chart: how you build relationships with people and how they see you. Then the entry to the love line: how its energy shows in its plus and in its minus. Then the love point: what kind of partner you need for a happy family life. After that, the money entry and the balance point: if the balance point is in its plus, both areas go well; if it is in its minus, both suffer.

To tell whether an energy is in its plus or its minus, answer one question honestly: am I happy with what is happening in my relationships? If yes, there is nothing to worry about. If something keeps going wrong with the person you love, the energies responsible for your personal relationships are in their minus, and you move them into the plus step by step.

When the main question is relationships, a reading puts the weight on this line and uses the rest of the chart as a hint. The family lines, for instance, help show where a pattern comes from: according to the books on the method, negative patterns around relationships pass down the mother's family line, and family energies start out in their minus and can block your personal life until they are worked through.

When a partner shows up in their minus, trying to remake them is pointless. You work with your own arcana that is in its minus, because it was your minus that drew this person in. You can change partners endlessly, but until you solve your own tasks you will keep getting family problems instead of family happiness.

Your partner and a couple's compatibility

The love line is the basis of compatibility. Each partner's personal task in a couple is their love point. The couple's shared task is the sum of both partners' love points, reduced to a number from 1 to 22. It is the arcana the two of you live through together. There is also a compatibility sign. In about 60% of couples, the partner's day-of-birth energy (their point A) matches one of the energies on the love line of your own chart: the entry, the balance point or the love point under the heart. Life feels easiest with a partner whose point A matches the energy under your heart and shows in its plus.

The books on the method stress that there are no incompatible people. If two people met and became a couple, they have a shared task to solve. Being in love lasts about seven years on average, and that point is seen as one of the peaks for divorce: after it, either mature love takes over, or resentment and irritation do. Understanding the couple's task helps take the relationship to a new level.

Common mistakes when reading the love line

Most wrong conclusions come from reading the love point on its own, cut off from the rest of the line.

• Reading only the love point and skipping the entry: without a worked-through entry, the portrait of the partner plays out in its minus.
• Comparing your current partner with the description and deciding they are the wrong one. The description is the most comfortable match, not the only one.
• Trying to change your partner instead of working on your own arcana in its minus.
• Mixing up the love line with the lines of men and women, which describe social ties.
• Subtracting 22 from a large number instead of adding up its digits.
• Treating the balance point as a money point only, when it answers just as much for relationships.
• Ignoring the karmic tail, even though its energy stands right at the entry to relationships.

What to do with your love line

Work starts with the karmic tail. Its energies stand in the first positions of the wellbeing line, so as you bring them into their plus you work through the entry to relationships, the entry to money and the soul's main task at the same time. In the method, karmic debts are closed through acceptance, forgiveness, love, gratitude and kind deeds.

Next, bring the entry energy into its plus: read its minus as a list of what not to do in relationships, and its plus as a model to follow. Then even out the balance point: check whether work is crowding out your personal life and whether your partner is getting in the way of earning. Use the love point to understand what your partner is like at their best and what you are learning next to them.

The method is clear about timing. From 20 to 40 the personal purpose is at work, and it includes relationships with people and with a partner, marriage and children. If this task is left unsolved, life keeps bringing you back to it. Change can cause short flare-ups: the people close to you unconsciously test how serious you are, because any system resists when one of its parts changes.
