What is the Destiny Matrix?

The Destiny Matrix is a chart made of two squares laid over each other, one diagonal and one straight. Together they form an eight-pointed star. Numbers from 1 to 22 stand in the corners, in the centre and on the lines, and each number is read as one of the Major Arcana.

The diagonal square is called personal: it describes the tasks a person arrives with. The straight square is called the family square: it describes what was passed down the father's line and the mother's line. Natalia Ladini, the author of the method, writes that the chart shows tendencies and tasks, and that people create their own future.

The method appeared in 2006. Its author, Natalia Ladini, first called her system “Diagnostics of Purpose” and says she arrived at it through her healing practice. The English edition of 2012, “Destiny Matrix: The 22 Ultimate Life-Changing Codes”, describes the 22 codes and how to build the chart. Her Russian book “Matrix of Destiny” (2019) gives each code’s energy, unworked karma, fitting activities and spiritual message. “Seven Generations of the Family” (2017) deals with the family part of the chart: what a person receives from the ancestors on the father’s side and the mother’s side.

Every number in the chart lies between 1 and 22, and each one is a separate energy, or code. Ladini splits the codes into three groups of seven: codes 1 to 7 belong to the world of matter, 8 to 14 to the world of the soul, 15 to 21 to the world of the spirit, while 22 stands apart and joins spirit with matter. The energies are matched with the Major Arcana in the Marseille order, where 8 is Justice and 11 is Strength. That is why English calculators using the Waite deck label these two numbers differently, though the numbers are the same.

From the lines of the chart the author draws eight levels of purpose. The first two are the sky and earth lines: spiritual potential and material life, from home and body to money, health and children. Their sum gives the third, personal level. The fourth and fifth are the father’s and mother’s lines, the sixth their sum, the seventh personal plus family, the eighth family plus the seventh. Each level is written as a set of three numbers. In the 2017 book the final numbers are already called the personal, social, spiritual and planetary purposes, and later followers tied them to ages 20–40, 40–60 and after 60.

The chart has two centres. The sum of the four corners of the personal square is the centre of personal force, or the comfort zone. The sum of the family square’s corners is the centre of family force, which Ladini writes in brackets in the middle of the chart. In its plus, this energy means the person comes to make peace between two families and bring kindness to relatives on both sides; the same key works in society. The two centres added give the whole force, the code of large projects. Without family force, the author writes, a person gathers personal force but cannot carry big plans through.

Other authors later added to the method. Ladini’s own diagram already marks an entry for money and an entry for partners, and Vladimir Fey in 2014, then Yulia Donbrava and Maria Priemykhova, laid out the full money and relationship channels: the entry, the middle of each channel and the balance point between them. Albina Matrix, Donbrava and Priemykhova described the karmic tail, the three lowest points of the vertical line, as tasks left unsolved in a past life. Matrix advises starting work with the chart from the tail, because its energies sit at the entries to money and to relationships, so working on them touches both.

The chart differs from numerology both in its numbers and in its shape. Numerology reduces a date to digits from 1 to 9, while here there are 22 energies, and the meaning of each depends on which point of the diagram it stands in. Fey states plainly that the numbers in the chart only mark kinds of energy. Nor is it astrology: there are no planets and no birth time or place, only the day, month and year. The chart is used to look at talents, money and work, relationships and couples, ties with family and parents, purpose and the energies of particular years of life.

   The centre and point A

   Start with the number in the middle: the comfort zone, what the soul strives for and the energy through which others read you. Then look at the left corner, point A, which holds your day of birth. This is the portrait: the qualities you arrived with and the first impression you make. Read the two together, in their plus and minus.

   The talent zone

   Move up to the top corner, point B: the month of birth and your link with the higher forces. Below it on the sky line stand two more points. These three numbers make up the talent zone: a gift from birth and a skill from a past life. The two top corners of the straight square add the talents passed down the father’s and mother’s lines.

   The money and love lines

   The wellbeing line runs below and right of the centre. The point right of the centre is the entry to the money line: how money comes in and what blocks it. The point below the centre is the entry to the love line. The balance point sits mid-line; between it and the entries, the $ sign shows your field of income and the heart a fitting partner.

   Point D and the karmic tail

   The bottom corner, point D, is the main task: an energy from past lives, in its minus at birth, that in time turns into a strength. Together with the two points above it on the vertical line it forms the karmic tail. These three numbers show which situations will keep repeating until the lesson is learned.    Your purposes and your year

   Sky line (B + D) plus earth line (A + C) is your personal purpose, the main one from 20 to 40. The father’s line plus the mother’s line give the social purpose, from 40 to 60; the calculator adds spiritual and planetary. Then find the age labels 0 to 70 around the chart: the point by your age and the “Now” card give the energy of this year of life.

Why 8 is Justice and 11 is Strength in the Destiny Matrix

In the older decks known as the Marseille tarot the eighth arcanum is Justice and the eleventh is Strength. In 1910 Arthur Waite swapped them in his deck. The Destiny Matrix follows the older order: in the method the eighth energy stands for karmic justice and balance.

That is why calculators that take their names from the Waite deck show a different arcanum for 8 and 11. The numbers in the chart are the same.

Seven chakras stand on the earth line and on the sky line. The earth line shows the body: the state of organs. The sky line shows energy: what happens on the level of the soul. The sum of the two gives emotions. The three numbers of each chakra are read as the energies linked with the organs of that zone.
